1450368 Secateurs JOHN COOPER & SONS Ltd 1 April 1975 13376/75 Headings B4B and B4W A pair of secateurs comprises pivotallyconnected first and second handles 11, 12, a removable blade 19 mounted on the handle 11 a further blade or anvil 14, 15 mounted on the handle 12 and cooperating detent means 24, 18 on the removable blade and handle 11 and urged into engagement by a spring 25 such that manual movement of the blade towards the second blade or anvil, with the handles held in the open position, and against the action of the spring, releases the detent means enabling the blade to be removed. The blade 19 is formed with a slot 23 adapted to clear a pivot pin 13 as shown in Fig. 1, the spring 25 acting against an end 29 of the blade to urge a notch 24 thereon into engagement with a projection 18. To remove the blade, the latter is grasped and pivoted about the pin 13 to disengage the notch so that the blade can be withdrawn. In order to facilitate the re-insertion of the blade, the spring is held back against the interior of the handle 12 by inserting a pin (e.g. a nail) into a hole 30 in the handle 12, the pin being removed when the blade is in position. In a modification, the anvil 14, 15, may be replaced by a second blade (31) Fig. 4 (not shown) which may be riveted to the handle 11 or removable in the same way as blade 17.
