Abstract
698,907. Gas turbines. SIMMERING-GRAZPAUKER AKT.-GES. FUR MASCHINEN, KESSELUND WAGGONBAU, and LEDINEGG, M. April 25, 1951 [May 2, 1950], No. 9618/51. Class 110(iii) A gas turbine has rotor blades 11 which are cooled by a liquid, for example water, and the blades have a large bore 13 and a number of smaller bores 12, the bores being connected at the blade tip by a passage 14 so that the coolant flows radially outwardly through the large bore and inwardly through the smaller bores. Each blade has associated therewith a separate cooler 10 disposed radially inwardly of the blade root and between the rotor discs 6, and also has a flange 17 for protecting the rotor discs from the hot gases. The rotor discs have passages 7 therethrough for the flow of air from the engine compressor, the flow being assisted by vanes disposed in the parts 20 201 of the rotor. The flanges 17 have bores 19 therein for the flow of coolant from the longitudinal bores 12, 13. Fins 18 are provided on the coolers. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 610,737 and 666,159.
