616,672. Gas turbines and compressors. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd., and CONSTANT, H. Sept. 20, 1946, No. 28242. [Class 110 (iii)] The shank portions 9 of gas turbine and other blading are formed with a number of oblique radial slits 11 through which can flow cooling air supplied in an annular conduit 10 lying radially within the bladed passage 6. Each blade may have, also, one or more closed radial cavities 13, extending from the blade portions 5 into the. cooled shank portion 9, containing sodium, caesium or aluminium chloride or bromide for convective cooling.
