Abstract
695,172. Dividing by fusion. WOGERBALTER, A. Nov. 16, 1948 [Dec. 8, 1947], No. 21782/51. Divided out of 695,102. Class 83 (iv). A workpiece is cut by conducting current along the sides and around the end of a notch made in the piece or provided by two members attached thereto, to melt the material at the end of the notch while moving the uncut portion of the piece and the current supplying device relatively towards each other and preferably pressing apart the edges of the notch. In an embodiment two roller electrodes 3, 3, Fig. 1, arranged on opposite sides of a notch 2 in a sheet 1 supply current to cause melting at 5, the sheet 1 being continuously moved towards the rollers 3, 3. Induction heating by means of two coils 12, 12, Fig. 3, arranged coaxially on opposite sides of a sheet 14 causes melting at 13. In a further embodiment two parts 17, 17 which-are in current conducting connection with a sheet 14 form the notch.
