Abstract

639,716. Seaming non-metallic sheets ; trimming edges ; cutting machines. AIRMEC. LABORATORIES, Ltd. Feb. 4, 1947, No. 3327. [Classes 31 (i) and 42 (i)] [Also in Group XI] Thermoplastic material to be welded and cut along a predetermined line is heated between high frequency electrodes 10, 13 and simultaneously cut by a blade 14 coacting with a recess 15 in the electrode 13. The blade 14 may be insulated by a layer of suitable material 20 placed between the blade and the electrode 10. Various modifications are shown in which the blade and electrode may be mounted so as to be capable of independent vertical movement with respect to the stationary electrode, thus providing for various sequences of cutting or heating in a desired order. A roller type electrode fitted with a knife-edged rim is also shown. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller. to Specification 607,463.
