Abstract
694,413. Sack holders. RANSOMES, SIMS & JEFFERIES, Ltd., and JARVIS, J. S. Jan. 16, 1952, No. 1278/52. Class 58 A sack holder for use with a filling spout 5 comprises a frame formed of bars 3, 3 having projecting tongues 20 formed with upturned edges 21 at the rear ends thereof, which bars are welded to the inclined edges of a front plate 4 and secured to the adjacent sides of the spout 5 the forward end portion 6 projecting beyond the front plate, which frame embraces the spout so that a sack applied to it is in close contact with spout, the frame being provided with a pair of levers 7 pivotally mounted at 8 on the front plate 4 and their adjacent ends overlapping and being pivotally connected by a bolt 14 capable of sliding in a slot 16 in the front plate plate 4, adapted to be operated e.g. by a spring 19 so that they move simultaneously on to or away from the frame to clamp or release the sack which is applied to the spout with its open end overlapping the tongues 20, the bars 3 and their projecting ends 6, a gap 23 between the bars 3, 3 and the front of the spout 5 being provided to allow for the escape of excess air from the sack being filled.
