Abstract

692,143. Two -part couplings. TUCKER & CO., Ltd., J. H., and AVISON, R. G. Sept. 11, 1950 [Sept. 22, 1949], No. 24323/49. Class 38 (i). A socket contact incorporates a resilient metal plate c loosely mounted by trunnionlike parts c<SP>1</SP>, said contact having buttress-like parts d<SP>1</SP> with which the side edges of the plate co-operate so that when a plug pin b is inserted, the plate is flexed transversely across the pin. In the embodiment shown a pair of plates c are loosely mounted in an aperture in a fixed plate d, and on either side of arcuate-faced, pin-guiding protuberances a<SP>2</SP> at the rear of a cover-plate a, the trunnions c<SP>1</SP> being formed by T-shaped heads on the plates. The buttress like parts d are formed by shoulders on the plate d. A single plate c may be employed, the pin bearing at one side on part of the socket. Where two plates are employed they may be united at their inner ends by yokes so as to form a U-shaped member (Figs. 6, 7, not shown). The T-shaped heads of the plates may be slotted to receive plate d.
