Abstract
687,543. Fluid-actuated valves. BASTIONBLESSING CO. March 5, 1951, No. 5316/51. Class 135. An automatic throwover regulating valve for connection to alternative sources of compressed gas is provided with two diaphragm operated valves differentially spring-loaded to open and having connected outlets, damping means being operatively connected with each valve. When the fluid supply from one of two containers is depleted, the valve automatically changes over to the other. Pressure gas containers have connections 12, 13 leading respectively past two pressure regulating valves, only one of which, 50, is shown, to a common outlet 54. Each regulating valve carries a damping tang 100 frictionally engaging the valve casing and is connected to a diaphragm, e.g. 80, exposed to outlet pressure and spring loaded at 84 to open the valve, the two springs being differentially loaded by oppositely acting rotary cams, e.g. 101, at the ends 92 of a common actuating bar 91, so that one valve regulates while the other is closed by a high outlet pressure acting on its diaphragm, and the closed valve regulates when the outlet pressure from the first valve has fallen a predetermined amount. A pressure gauge is connected to the outlet with its pointer indicating from which tank the high or low pressure is being supplied.
