497,775. Pressure gauges. DRAGER, O. H. Jan. 21, 1938, No. 2112. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1937. [Class 106 (ii)] Oxygen-breathing apparatus is tested for air tightness and amount of oxygen supplied per unit time by a device having a plurality of diaphragm boxes 3-6 connected in series, and a cock 9 fitted in a passage 2 leading to the pressure measuring device, by turning which an orifice 10 of predetermined size leading from the passage to the atmosphere can be opened or closed. Each box has a screwed socket and plug 11, 12 for connecting with the next, the last box 6 being connected by a pin 13, quadrant lever 14, and pinion 16 to a pointer 17 moving over scales 18, 19. With the cock 9 in the position shown, if oxygen is supplied to the apparatus when connected up, the gauge indicates the pressure differential between the supply and the atmosphere and the amount of gas supplied per unit time is indicated on scale 19. If the cock is turned through 180‹ the safety valve of the apparatus may be tested and adjusted to correct pressure and the apparatus tested for air-tightness.
