Abstract
687,408. Supports for animals. KNIGHT, B. W. June 2, 1949 [June 10, 1948], No. 14855/49. Class 81 (ii). In an animal supporting apparatus which may be folded up for transportation the animals are held in a harness slung from a main supporting member which is engaged by and propped up on legs, having means for adjusting their length to conform to the folded condition of the apparatus, guy ropes assisting to hold the member in a horizontal position. As shown, Fig. 1, the animals are held within slings 28, 29, slung from a beam 1 at adjustable positions defined by the holes 5a. The beam 1 is jointed at the centre by links 2 and fish-plate and wing- nut 3, 5, whilst telescopic adjustable legs 11 engage at either end of the beam with cross members 14. These members may be secured at various positions along the beam the bolt and wing-nut 15 engaging holes 5a whilst guy ropes 8 are secured at either end of the beam. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 7, the legs 11 are jointed by links 21, fish-plate and wing-nut 22, 24, and are each joined to the member 1 by two angle plates 19 pivoted at 25. The beam 1 has, with the exception of its centre portion, bevelled edges 18 and is slotted at each end in order to accommodate the angle plates 19.
