Abstract
687,073. Maps. FALK, G. March 14, 1950. [March 14, 1949; March 6, 1950] No. 6399/50. Class 146 (ii). A map foldable into book form, comprises a sheet having two longitudinal folds 11, 12 in the same sense to provide a middle strip 1-10 having a side strip attached at either side, the middle strip being folded transversely in accordion or zig-zag fashion, the folds of one sense 25-29 being continued in the side strips as folds and the folds of the other sense, 15, 18, 21, 24 being continued in the side strips as slits 13, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22, 23 extending out to the edges, and the side strips being folded longitudinally at 30-34 in accordion or zig-zag fashion so as to leave a middle portion of the middle strip uncovered when in the folded state, the strips being dimensioned so as to decrease progressively in width from the middle strip outwardly to provide index strips 85-88. The back of the first panel 1 of the middle strip is pasted to one side 84 of a protective wrapper, the other side 83 of which folds over the mad in the closed position. On the back of the fullscale map, a small key map and index is shown in side panels 35, 36 and maps of the principal cities shown in middle panels 1-10, as shown in Fig. 2. The other back panels may have maps or other information corresponding to the main map.
