A map for folding into book-like form having longitudinal folds 1 to 7 in the creases of which are slits, with borders free from slits, for the formation of transverse folds 8 to 16, has the total length between the borders subdivided into a number of transverse slits s which are interrupted by bridges a, such that, in the folded condition of the map, each transverse fold (=s) is equal or slightly wider than and overlaps its adjacent bridge a. The top border c is usually equal to the fold length s and each bridge a is 2 less than s, the amount of the overlap being 2 greater as the number of transverse folds increases. One corner of the map may be secured as by adhesive to a protective cover P.
