Abstract
686,947. Fasteners for panels and mouldings. BROWN, R. L. Feb. 19, 1951 [April 11, 1950], No. 4033/51. Class 20(iv) [Also in Group XXV] A fastener stamped out of malleable sheet metal or like permanently deformable material for securing two members together such as metal panels or a moulding to a panel has two connected divergent arms 12 provided with laterally projecting shoulders 20, the outer ends of the arms being folded back as shown to form parallel projections 18; the projections 18 are inserted through holes O in for example metal panels P until the shoulders 20 engage a panel when the arms 12 are pinched together causing the projections 18 to diverge and secure the panels together. The projections 18 are preferably arcuate but may instead be formed with outwardly extending flanges. The fastener may be used to secure a moulding M with inturned flanges 24 to a panel P as shown in Fig. 7.
