Abstract

685,152. Winding yarn &c. STUBBS, Ltd., J. June 11, 1951 [June 9, 1950]. No. 14403/50. Class 120 (ii). In a winding-machine of the slotted drum type having a plate D arranged above the drum A with its longitudinal edge parallel to the package B being wound, the plate being moved rearwardly slowly as the package grows, the plate is pivotally mounted at d<SP>1</SP> so that it can be rotated in a plane parallel to that of its rearward movement in order that it may be adjusted for the winding of cylindrical or conical packages. The rearward movement of the plate D may be effected by a spring d which maintains the plate D in contact with rods E as the package grows, the rods E being adjustably carried by the member C<SP>1</SP> to which the arm C of the package carrier is fixed. In an alternative form, the rods E may pass through holes, &c., in the plate D. In a further form, the plate D is pivoted at a point beyond the end of the conical package being wound so that as the package grows the plate D will move rearwardly and pivot at the same time.
