Abstract
683,374. Multipling cables. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1951 [Sept. 8, 1950], No. 20938/51. Class 36. A multipling cable comprises a plurality of electrically insulated conductors 1 extending back and forth across the width of the cable and forming connecting loops 3 at regular intervals along at least one edge of the cable, the conductors extending in one direction across the cable being interwoven with those extending in the other direction. Preferably each of the conductors passes alternately over and under each of the other conductors which it crosses, and the part of each conductor to one side of its associated loop is at a small angle to the length of the cable, while the part to the other side of the loop is at a small angle to the width of the cable, the angles varying for each conductor to permit interweaving. The conductors are preferably of copper wire having a diameter of not more than 0.4 mm., and the insulation 2 is preferably of polyvinyl chloride, a cellulose ester, or other organic material, the composition of which is not changed by melting, and which may be removed from the loops 3 by heating.
