Abstract

682,660. Door-operating appliances. NEWMAN & SONS, Ltd., W., and SHEAD, H. C. Aug. 25, 1951, No. 20063/51. Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii) In a floor-spring, the actuating spindle 2 is keyed or coupled to an arm 9 operatively engaged with a door shoe 5 mounted on the spindle so as to permit of universal relative adjustment between the door and the spindle, the latter having a part-spherical upper end 6 engaging a part-spherical seating 7 in the underside of the door shoe. The arm carries an adjusting screw 10 engaged with slight clearance, between side cheeks on the door shoe, one of the cheeks being formed with a hole to admit a tool for adjusting the screw. The arm is coupled to the spindle by an inclined key 16 in the manner described and claimed in Specification 682,659 referred to. In a modification the shoe is replaced by a plate affixed to the edge of the door.
