Abstract
470,681. Centrifugal switches. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Nov. 11, 1936, No. 30779. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1935. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXVI] A centrifugal governor comprises a weight 5 which actuates a contact 6 for controlling the speed varying means. The weight 5 is loaded by a spring 8 adjusted so that at the desired speed the load exerted by the spring is equal to the centrifugal force of the weight in all positions of the weight. A pin 16 is arranged on the bell-crank 3 and projects through the disc 1 and engages a notch in a plate 21 loaded by a spring 22 and pivoted on a plate 18. The plate 18 is pivoted at 17 on the disc 1 and a weight 24 is also pivoted on the disc 1. At certain low speeds the plate 18 is free to move but when the weight 24 overcomes the spring 27 a surface on its arm 26 grips the plate 18. In this manner the abutment 19 for the pin 16 is adjusted so that despite wear of the contacts 6, 7, the clearance between them when they are opened is always maintained constant. An inertia weight 13 is arranged on the pin 4 and a pin 14 on the bell-crank 3 projects with clearance into the hole 15 in the weight 13. Specification 292,210, [Class 57], is referred to.
