681,675. Determining presence of substances in vapours. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 11, 1951 [April 26, 1950], No. 8402/51. Class 37. Relates to apparatus as disclosed in Specification 648,367, in which the vapour under test is drawn over a heated electrode 3 so that the presence of a substance such as an alkaline metal produces positive ions which are collected by a negatively charged electrode 5, the resulting current being measured at A. According to the invention, the inlet 15 for the vapour under test is of smaller diameter than the spacing between electrodes 3, 5.
