Abstract
800,345. Centrifugal separators. HOLMES & CO., Ltd., W. C., and SYKES, W. March 29, 1956 [April 21, 1955], No. 11488/55. Class 23 [Also in Group XL(a)] An insulated ionizing negative electrode is mounted coaxially within a cyclone separator, the electrode comprising a helical portion 20. The electrode may include a plate 19 supported by a rod 17 and have an extension 21 entering the cylone inlet 12. The apparatus is used to separate conductive particles from a gas stream, and may be used to separate non-conductive particles by introducing into the stream a substance which renders the particles conductive or induces their agglomeration under ionizing conditions.
