Abstract

611,137. Electrostatic precipitation. WHESSOE, Ltd., and PUTTICK, A. April 23, 1946, No. 12227. [Class 39 (i)] An electrical precipitator of the two field type has discharge electrodes of the ionizing zone formed by wires 12 (shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 1) which extend also through the precipitating zone and are there masked or screened by plates 16 which form the charged electrodes of the precipitating zone. Earthed plates 9 divide the casing into a number of compartments through which the gas passes from the inlet 10 to the outlet 11. Plates 16 may be made up of a number of sections connected together by hinges. In modifications, the collector anodes may be tubular and the discharge electrodes central or a concentrically disposed series with tubular masking arrangements.
