681,046. Packeting-machines. ESSELTE FORPACKING AKTIEBOLAG. July 18, 1950, No. 17911/50. Class 94 (i) In a packeting-machine, collapsed cartons a are fed from a magazine i by a reciprocating member k which is formed with an abutment o which moves each carton to an intermediate position and a spring-loaded tooth p (see Fig. 4, not shown) which moves it from the intermediate position into one of a series of rectangular pockets h in an intermittently-rotated carrier g. The carton is positioned obliquely in the recess and is temporarily held therein by a spring-loaded finger 2 pivoted to a bracket q so that on movement of the carrier to position a<SP>1</SP> it passes beneath a segmental guide 4. At position a<SP>1</SP> its leading edge is engaged by a serrated roller 9 mounted on a lever 6 which is pivoted in the guide 4 and adjustable by a screw 7 against the action of a spring 8 whereby the next movement of the carrier causes the carton to be erected and pressed into the recess. The action of the roller is assisted by a blade spring 12. As the carton is moved to the intermediate position, fingers w pivoted to adjustable guide bars u on the bracket q pass beneath the end flaps b of the carton, whereby on the subsequent movement of the carton into the recess, the guide bars bend the flaps through a right angle into the position shown. The guide 4 is fitted with segmental side plates 5 forming channels in which the flaps are guided as the carton is moved with the carrier.
