Abstract
1,161,827. Strapping machine. NAIGAI SEIKOSHO K.K. 29 Nov., 1966, No. 53378/66. Heading B8C. In an automatic strapping machine the band feeding and tightening device comprises two or three rollers 12a, 12b, 12c at least one of which, 12b, is capable of motion away from another 12c against the action of a spring 15 when so moved by the increase in tension of the band 2 caused by the band tightening operation, so as to operate a limit switch 16 to terminate the tightening operation. In one embodiment two rollers 12a, 12b are mounted on an arm 13 pivoted about a pin 14; alternatively the pin 14 may coincide with the shaft 10a of roller 12a, Fig. 4 (not shown); or roller 12b may be mounted in a slide capable of movement in a straight path, Fig. 6 (not shown). Roller 12c may be eliminated; guides 20, 21 may be combined integrally, Fig. 7 (not shown). The rollers are mounted on shafts having gears which can interengage. There may be provided a block 6 to secure the end of the band during tightening and a block 7 to compress together and secure the ends of the band and a blade 8 to cut it. The length of band fed may be determined by means of a time switch (not shown).
