Abstract

679,856. Electromagnetic relays. WALTER INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., ARMSTRONG, C. J., and NOAD, J. E. G. Nov. 29, 1950. [Nov. 29, 1949] No. 30627/49. Class 38 (v). Upon energization of an iron-clad solenoid 3, a plunger 7 is drawn down against the action of a return spring 13 and a pin 19 on the plunger actuates contact springs 21, 22, 23 mounted on an insulating body 26 at the end of the solenoid. In the form shown there are two sets of contact springs and the middle spring 22 of each set is adapted to engage contacts 24 on the outer springs 21, '23 of the other set. The outer springs tend to move inwardly but normally the ends of the pin 19 hold the contacts 21 out of engagement with the contacts 22. When the relay is actuated, the pin 19 presses the springs 23 out of engagement with the contacts 22 and the springs 21, 22 engage.
