741,037. Electromagnetic relays. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Dec. 11, 1953 [Dec. 22, 1952], No. 34594/53. Class 38(5) A toothed insulating bar 11 operating the moving contact springs 17, 18 of the contact springset of an electromagnetic relay (Fig. 1, not shown) to lift the springs into engagement with the fixed springs 19 when the armature is attracted, is held in position by being locked to one of the moving springs, as shown, the spring 18. The locking arrangement comprises a slot 16 in the bar having a width a little greater than the thickness of the spring 18, and an opening 12 in the spring of the shape shown in Fig. 6. The bar is introduced lengthwise into the opening 12 and through rectangular apertures formed in the remaining springs and initially takes the position shown in Figs. 2, 6. The bar is then turned somewhat and moved towards the free ends of the springs to take the locking position, Fig. 8, in which the slot 16 receives the spring 18 and the teeth 15 rest under'the springs 17 (only one spring 17 shown) Rotation of the bar, and hence unlocking, is prevented by an aperture 14 in a fixed non-contact-carrying spring 13 which receives the upper end of the bar. Alternatively, the spring 13 may comprise a normally closed moving contact-carrying spring. A further toothed insulating bar (Fig. 1, not shown) passes through apertures in the springs to determine their spacing when the relay is not energized.
