Abstract

679,384. Twisting yarns &c. T. M. M. (RESEARCH), Ltd., and FOSTER, J. R. Dec. 15, 1950 [Jan. 10, 1950; Sept. 21, 1950], Nos. 628/50 and 23178/50. Class 120(ii) A twisting device for textile and other yarns, threads or filaments comprises a hollow spindle 28, a fixed circular race or track 38, a tubular package support 35 mounted on spindle 28 and capable of independent rotation about an axis inclined with respect to that of race 38, support 35 being adapted to rotate with a part 37 thereof in rolling contact with race 38, means adapted to lead a yarn 18 or the like (as drawn through support 35 from a package 12 mounted thereon) outwardly in loop form from the hollow interior of spindle 28, and a driving wharve or its equivalent on the spindle. The yarn 18 passes between the conical end 37 of tubular support 35 and the race 38 opposite their point of rolling contact and out through an aperture 40 in spindle tube 28 to a flyer 41. The package 12 rotates in the same direction as spindle tube 28 but at a much lower speed. Alternative constructions are described in the Provisional Specifications.
