Abstract
677,629. Regulating switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BRYER, R. F. Jan. 12, 1951. [Feb. 5, 1950] No. 3011/50. Class 38 (v). A potential divider or other multi-position switch comprises a number of fixed contacts 1, 2, 3, 4 ... arranged in line, with conducting bars 15, 16 on either side and a pair of moving contacts 17, 18 carried by a member 19 and engaging respectively the bars 15, 16 as well as the fixed contacts, successive steps of movement of the member 19 causing the moving contacts first to engage the same fixed contact as shown, and then two adjacent fixed contacts. The contact and bars may be arranged as shown on the internal surface of a cylinder and the member 19 may be mounted on a shaft 20 which carries a wheel (not shown) with twentyfour teeth engaged by two diametricallyarranged spring-biased stops to determine the positions of the shaft. In a modification, the contacts and bars may be arranged in one plane on the face of an annular member.
