Abstract
676,980. Two-part couplings ; junctionboxes; strain-taking devices for flexible leads. RELIANCE ELECTRICAL WIRE CO., Ltd. Sept. 22, 1950 [June 24, 1949], No. 16874/49. Class 38 (i). In a cable and connector of the kind in which the connector is enclosed in or constituted by an enlarged body 5 of moulded rubber or like material which is a mechanical continuation of and may be moulded to the rubber or like covering of the cable 1, the body 5 has a flexible tail 7 moulded or otherwise anchored thereto, round which a length of the cable is wound and anchored by moulding or otherwise near the enlarged body end of the tail and at or near the other end of the tail. Fig. 1 shows one embodiment wherein the body 5 encloses a plug connector 4 secured therein by a screw 8, the adjacent end of the wound length of cable connected thereto being a tight fit in a hole 6 in the body. The other end of the length of cable may be moulded to the tail 7, Fig. 2 (not shown) or as shown, may enter a rubber body 10 through a tight-fitting hole 12, said body being moulded on the end of tail 7 and enclosing a terminal board 11 to which the cable is connected. The body 10 has a removable cover to permit access to the terminal board.
