Abstract

675,572. Clamps. BREEZE, T. June 15, 1950 [June 16, 1949], No. 16101/49. Class 61 (ii). [Also in Group XXIV] A clamp for gripping a conveyer belt 2 comprises two relatively slidable flanged plates 4, 5 operated by a cam 15 on a lever 11. The lever is pivoted to the plate 4 by means of a bolt 8 passing through a slot 10 in the plate 5. When it is necessary to sever the belt, a pair of clamps may be attached to the belt on each side of the cut and secured by chains 13 to fixed points 14 to prevent the belt from springing apart when cut. In a modification, the lever 11 is provided with a handle and the clamp may be used when moving the belt. The jaws may be roughened or have rubber, &c., inserts.
