673,693. Actuation of switches; switch contacts. BAYHAM, Ltd., HUTCHINGS, P. J., and BASKERVILLE, E. M. Aug. 2, 1950. [Aug. 17, 1949] No. 21391/49. Class 38(v). [Also in Groups XVIII and XXXV] A high and/or low liquidlevel alarm gear for a tank a comprises a float i, a magnetic coupling in the form of opposed horse-shoe magnets f, m, and a mercury switch o, the assembly being mounted at an aperture in the tank by a screwthreaded body member b. The body b has a rear cavity e housing the magnet f which is mounted on a bent spindle g, said spindle bearing in a flanged member h screwed to the body b and extending eccentrically through the float i ; on the other side the body is fitted with a frame j, which is rotatably adjustable by screws k and supports the magnet m and switch o, and a domed cover s. The magnet m is integral with a sleeve w which is mounted on a spindle n, rotatable between bearings in the body b and a bar t rigid with the frame j, and has frictionally locked thereto an external flanged sleeve x provided with a carrying arm p for the switch o. Flexible leads are taken from the ends and centre of the switch to an insulating block r on the frame j.
