Abstract
670,431. Cathode-ray tubes. COURT, P. R. J., and PYE, Ltd. Feb. 20, 1950 [Feb. 24, 1949], No. 5062/49. Class 39 (i). [Also in Group XXXV] A focusing device comprises spaced annular magnetic members, the flux in the gap therebetween being produced by magnetizing means and varied by the relative rotation of teeth which are directed towards each other and arranged about the two annular members and at the ends of the magnetizing means. An annular permanent magnet 1, or coil in which the current is not adjustable, is secured by screws 4 between flanged sheet-metal poles 2, 3 which define the focusing gap. The pole 2 and a ring 5, rotatable on the pole 3, are each provided with three teeth, the edges of which may be inclined, or rectangular, to define an adjustable gap which is smaller than the focusinggap.- Adjustment is effected by a lever 7, secured to a tooth on the ring 5 and operated. by an arm extending through the cabinet of the television receiver or by link mechanism or by a gear-wheel engaging teeth on the ring 5. The arrangement is supported from the cabinet by a ring 12, screws 11, and a frame 10 having an embossed part to permit rotation of the ring 5. A centring device comprising rotatable rings 21, 22, diametrically magnetized, and insulating rings may be provided as described in Specification 670,021. Specification 648,793 also is referred to.
