Abstract
605,341. Electromagnets. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Oct. 25, 1945, No. 28189. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1944. [Class 35] [Also in Group XL (a)] Magnetic focusing means for a cathode-ray tube comprises a permanent' magnet 6 and an electromagnet 7, the electromagnet providing a small fraction of the total magnetomotive force of the order required to effect focusing adjustment. The permanent magnet and electromagnet are arranged concentrically, and have a common pole structure 8, 9. The polepieces 8, 9 have conical bores so that the focusing arrangement can be initially adjusted to centre the spot on the fluorescent screen. The permanent magnet 6 is magnetized by passing a short pulse of D.C. current through the electromagnet coil.
