Abstract
668,470. Electrodeposition of copper. PRIMAVESI, D. Feb. 28, 1949 [Feb. 28, 1948], No. 5449/49. Class 41. In a process for the electrolytic production of copper in powder form, the electrolyte consists mainly of an acidulated aqueous solution of chlorides of one or more metals which are more base than copper, and electrolysis is carried out with an anode of copper or copper-containing material at a cathode current density of from 5 to 12 amperes per square decimetre and at a temperature of from 30‹ to 60‹ C. so as to obtain a powder having a " tap volume " of less than 40 c.cs. per 100 grams. A suitable electrolyte consists mainly of a solution of ferrous chloride acidulated with hydrochloric acid, preferably with a content of from 10 to 200 grams. of iron in the form of ferrous chloride and from 10 to 200 grms, hydrochloric acid per litre. Specification 558,722 is referred to.
