[Also in Group XXVIII] A gas turbine plant comprises a duct 5, leading from the combustion chamber 3 to the turbine 4, a container such as a cleaner 6, (see Group XXVIII), having a part which is situated within and across the duct and formed with apertured walls to permit a gas flow therethrough whilst the remainder is gas tight and a mass of " pebbles " which are held in the container and are free to flow into or out'of the container or a pebble cleaning zone within the gas-tight part. The pebbles may be cooled by air drawn off upstream of the combustion chamber or by atmospheric air forced through them by a fan. The pressure of the cooling air may be regulated to that of the supply to the turbine. The cooling air may be cleaned in a cyclone and returned to the turbine circuit or be circulated by the fan in a closed circuit having a cyclone therein.
