Abstract
638,094. Jet propulsion plant for aircraft. ROLLS-ROYCE, Ltd. Aug. 20, 1947, No. 23119. [Class 110(iii)] The air duct 18 of a jet-propulsion or other gas turbine plant is provided with an open grid formed by pipes 17 to which hot gas is supplied and a fine grid 19. Under severe conditions, the grid 19 may be blocked and air then passes through an annular byepass channel around the grid formed by walls 12a, 20. Solid matter entering the byepass will pass outside the wall 20 and collect in a chamber 200 from which it is evacuated. The hot gas is led by pipes 16 to a chamber 115 from which it goes to the grid pipes 17. Or the pipes 16 may convey the gas to a short annular chamber around the grid 17. The means supplying hot gas to the grid may be omitted or may be as described in Specifications 619,390, 636,612 and 638,079.
