666,440. Mixing appliances. ATELIERS HEUZE, MALEVEZ & SIMON REUNIS. July 19, 1949. [April 14, 1949] 'No. 19002/49. Class 86. Apparatus for mixing chocolate and other pastes comprises a tank provided with stirring devices carried by a movable harness, particularly planetary motion stirrers, and also having stirrers which 'act vertically on the materials, the movable harness being provided with scraping members acting on both the side walls and the bottom of the tank, the scraping members for the side walls and the scraping members for the bottom being arranged at different locations in spaced relation around the movable harness and the paths of the scraping members for the side walls and for the bottom at least almost meeting one another. As shown in Fig. 2, stirrers are carried for rotation about shafts 9 which rotate in pairs about shafts 5 which in turn rotate about a central shaft 16 the shafts and stirrers being driven by planetary gearing. Scrapers 26, 28 are provided for the side wall and bottom respectively of the jacketed container 1, whereby the materials near the sides and bottom are reintroduced into the mass. The scrapers 26 are supported from a casing 17 carried by the shaft 16 and the scrapers 28 are supported from casings 12 carried by the shafts 5. The scrapers 26, 28 may be reversed for rotation in the other direction. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5, not shown, double acting scrapers are provided which may be used for either direction of rotation without adjustment. Stirrers (not shown), may be provided in the interspaces A and B to impart vertical movements to the mass. Specification 659,240 is referred to.
