Abstract
666,144. Road-traffic signs. GREENWOOD, J. E., and HOLROYD, G. E. Jan. 20, 1950 [Jan. 22, 1949], No. 1825/49. Class 3(ii) . A road surface marking block comprises a mushroom shaped metal holder formed with a horizontal bore a<SP>1</SP> in its head A to receive a tube B of relatively softer material which houses reflector lenses B<SP>1</SP>, the head being cut away adjacent the ends of the bore, with the sides of the cut-away portions diverging to increase the range of visibility of the reflector lenses. The lenses B<SP>1</SP> are separated by a cylinder c the ends of which are polished to act as reflectors. The head A has a cylindrical stem a which tapers to a wedge-like shape at its lower end for securing the head A to a road surface. A hole a<SP>2</SP> in the stem can be filled with concrete to act as a lock.
