Abstract
666,113. Cutting-apparatus. ROSEN, K. I. J. Oct. 28, 1949 [Oct. 29, 1948], No. 27740/49. Class 31 (i). A machine for cutting spiral strips. from a roll of circularly - woven stockinette fabric so as to produce a continuous strip of desired uniform width is characterized in that the feeding of the fabric is effected by cards having downwardly - directed teeth and disposed in the form of a circle. As shown in Fig. 1, a frame 2 carries at the top a roll (not shown) of tubular stockinette material 40 which passes to a feeding device comprising a number of carding blocks 31, carried on radial levers and successively raised by wheels 21, travelling in a circular path, and lowered by tension-springs 29, Fig. 5. Each card lever 26 is provided with recesses 27, a selected one of which co-operates with a ring 25, the circumference of the ring of cards thus being adjustable. An adjustable screw 28 is provided below each lever 26 to limit the downward movement of the lever. The wheels 21 are carried on a flange 15 of a central shaft 14, Fig. 1, which is driven through worm gears 16, 17, 19 by a motor 13. A cutting device 38 comprising stationary and movable knives is also driven from the motor 13 and is provided with a fork-shaped member (not shown) to conduct the fabric between the knives.
