Abstract

818,432. Making cemented pile fabrics. PAERSE-LAING Ltd., and PAERSE, C. March 17, 1958 [April 6, 1957], No. 11294/57. Class 142(4) A pile fabric made on a machine such as is described in Specifications 704,335 and 658,791 has the pile cut, while the pile forming material is held between the looping blades 10, by a cutter introduced between successive blades. The cutting device comprises end blocks 27 (Fig. 2) connected by rods 34 and moved downwards by cams 30 and tappets 29, the blocks sliding on rods 26 and being returned by springs 28. A carriage is reciprocated on the rods 34 by a cam 37 engaging a member 36 on the carriage and springs 41 return the carriage. Cutters 43, mounted on the carriage, are driven by a chain 45 from a motor 48. The cams 30, 37 are driven from ;a shaft 31. The blocks 27 also carry clamping bars 50 and separators 55 (Fig. 5) which retain the loops and deflect the blades before insertion of the cutter. The blades may be made of rubber or a plastic to facilitate their deflection. The backing may be set by hot air. Cutters having straight edges may be used. A pattern can be produced by having cut, and uncut pile. A fabric bucking may, or may not, be provided.
