Abstract
665,659. Wall and ceiling linings. CHURCHMAN, H., and MERCHANT TRADING CO., Ltd. May 4, 1950 [May 9, 1949], No. 12365/49. Class 20(iv) Laths for supporting building boards and the like such as are described in Specifications 661,063 and 663,109 are supported by hangers 23, Fig. 8 which are attached to purlins or other structural members and have a tongue 24 adapted to lie along the face 45 of the upper flange 44 of the lath and clamped thereto by a U-shaped stirrup 48 provided with a set-screw 50. The limbs of the stirrup are slotted to engage under the flange 44 and to enable it to be slid into position. The end 51 of the tongue 24 may be turned up as shown to assist in retaining the stirrup 48 in position. A suitable hanger may be made from a metal strip which has been slit to provide a tongue 24 as shown in Fig. 5, portions 36 and 37 of the strip being bent back to grip the purlin 31. In a modification as shown in Fig. 6 where the tongue 24 of the hanger cannot be made to lie along the flange 44 it is attached by screws 412 and 413 to an adaptor comprising a clamping plate 411 and a plate 40 having tongues 38 and 39 which are secured to the lath by stirrups such as 48, the plate 40 being offset from the tongues 38 and 39 to accommodate the tongue 24 and rotatable relative to the latter and the clamping plate 411.
