Abstract

2-(31 : 41-dihydroxyphenyl) morpholine and salts thereof are prepared by a process in which a solution of a salt or salts of 1-(31 : 41-dihydroxyphenyl) - 1 - hydroxy - 2 - ethanolaminoethane is either allowed to stand for a prolonged period or is heated to an elevated temperature, the salt obtained being, if desired, converted into the free base. Preferably additional acid is added to the reaction mixture and an organic solvent such as alcohol employed. Two examples of the process are given.
