Abstract
662,452. Flocking fabrics. HEBERLEIN & CO. AKT.-GES. Feb. 4, 1949 [March 16, 1948], No. 3127/49. Class 140. In a process for producing patterned flock effects on fabrics by local application of short staple fibrous cellulose flock, the flock is fixed by treating the fabric with a solution capable of dissolving natural or regenerated cellulose and which superficially dissolves the fibrous material of the flock and of the fabric. Suitable solutions, which may be thickened with cellulose, are those of metal salts, such as zinc chloride, and calcium thiocyanate, of quaternary ammonium bases or their salts, such as benzyl-trimethyl-ammonium hydroxide, of cellulosesodium zincate, of copper-ethylene-diamine, ammoniacal solutions of copper oxide and non- matured solutions of cellulose-xanthogenate. The process may be used to fix natural or regenerated cellulose flock, e.g. viscose rayon, to natural or regenerated cellulose fabrics, e.g. cotton or viscose rayon or synthetic fabrics, e.g. superpolyamide fabrics.
