Abstract

Crinkled yarns of polymers or copolymers of acrylonitrile are obtained by spinning a solution of the polymer in dimethyl- or diethyl-formamide into an aqueous bath at 15-40 DEG C. containing dimethyl- and/or diethyl-formamide and calcium chloride and then, with or without stretching the filaments continuously with their production, washing and drying them without tension. Copolymers of acrylonitrile with vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, vinyl pyridine, butadiene compounds, vinyl acetate or acetals and alkyl methacrylates may be spun.
