[Class 35] [Also in Group I] An electric lawn-mower comprises an electric motor wherein the outer part or " stator " 4 is incorporated in the roller 1 to rotate therewith and the inner part or " rotor " 6 rotates about the axes of the roller and independently thereof. According to the present invention, the inner part 6 drives a rotary cutter-shaft 9 through chain and sprocket gearing 7, 8 and the rotary cutter shaft 9 drives the roller 1 through chain and sprocket gearing 10, 11. The roller and cutter may rotate in opposite directions by substituting gear-wheels for transmitting the drive. A battery for driving the motor is mounted on the frame of the mower, preferably above the roller, and the connection to the motor comprises a contact-ring and brush. The motor is operated by a switch controlled by a Bowden wire.
