Abstract

292,386. Stokes, D. H. Sept. 5, 1927. Motors, gearing for.-In a machine for cutting lawns, grass borders, &c. in which the rotary blades are mounted on a carrier or barrel driven from an electric motor within it., the barrel 10 is driven from the armature shaft 41 by reducing spur gearing 42, 45, 46 and an internal gear ring 48. The barrel is mounted on the tubular ends of a frame 9 which carries the field 49 and has the armature 37 rotatably mounted within it. A blower 44 is mounted on the armature shaft to cool the motor. The circuit wires 31 are led through one of the tubular ends 26 of the frame 9. The barrel 10 comprises two parts spigoted together at 25 and is provided with gauze-filled air vents. The frame 9 is built up at one end and fastened together by screw pins.
