658,605. Making glass fibres. ALGEMEENE KUNSTVEZEL MAATSCHAPPIJ, N. V. Aug. 11, 1949, No. 20934. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1948. [Class 56] In a process for manufacturing glass fibres by projecting molten glass 4 from a rotating disc 5 into a casing 11 surrounding the disc, the fibres are cut to a determined length by horizontal cutters 10 rotating about the axis of the disc, and are ejected continuously by a suction produced beneath the disc. The blades 10 are shaped to act as fan blades and hence produce the necessary suction. Compressed air delivered to an annulus 7 from a pipe 8 serves also to face the glass fibres downwards.
