Abstract
656,532. Building motions for yarn twisting &c. machines. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS, Ltd., and SMITH, F. A. Dec. 10, 1948. No. 32038. [Class 120(ii)] A builder-motion, preferably for a ring frame, of the kind having an oscillatory lever connected with means for reciprocating a lifter rail and carrying a screwthreaded member, has a block threaded on the member and means for controlling the direction of rotary movement of the member by the block as it approaches either end of the member. A connecting rod 19 coupled to an oscillatable sector member associated with the lifter rail has a pin and slot connection 21 with a block 25 on a screw-threaded rod 27 rotated by a ratchet and pawl mechanism 43, 47 actuated by oscillatory movement of the lever 29, which rocks about pivot 31 under the influence of a cam bearing against a cam roll 39, Rotation of the rod 27 moves the block 25 downwards until an abutment 59 contacts a block 57 to rotate a rod 51 and bring another pawl into operation, resulting in the raising of the block 25. As the block 25 moves, the pin of the pin and slot connection 21 bears against a cam plate 63, thus preventing the end portions of the yarn packages having arcuate shapes. In another embodiment the block 25 is coupled to the rod 19 by a chain passing over a pulley located towards the upper end of the lever 29. Specification 359,834 is referred to.
