Abstract
656,459. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 29,1947, No. 28810. [Class 39 (i)] An electrode assembly especially for a cathode-ray tube comprises a sleeve 1 with an end wall 2 in which there is an opening accommodating the recessed and apertured portion 4 of a thinner element 3, the emissive surface 15 of the cathode lying within the recessed portion and closely adjacent the aperture 6. The cathode tube 7 with its heater 8 is held in a ceramic disc 10 which is spaced from the end wall 3 by a ring 12. A metal disc 14 shields the ceramic disc from deposition of material emitted from tube 7. The distance between the emissive surface 15 and the outer surface of disc 3 is given as 0.013-0.014 inches.
