Abstract
654,364. Moving coil instruments. YOUNG, L., and YOUNG, A. June 25, 1947, No. 16819. [Class 40 (iv)] A moving coil transducer has an outer pole member 14 and an inner pole member 7 abutting on to a permanent magnet 9 in the form of a hollow cylinder through which runs a tapering non-magnetic conduit 5. Between the smaller end of the conduit and the diaphragm 34 is located an acoustic transformer comprising a plurality of hollow truncated conical members 20, 27, 30 with annular passages between them, these passages increasing in cross-sectional area away from the diaphragm. The cones are separated by integral ribs 23, 25, 29 and are held in place by a single screw 19 engaging the innermost conical member 30 and a spider 18. A horn may be screwed on to the ring nut 11 at the outer end of the conduit 5.
