Abstract
651,522. Wagon-tipplers. BULK PRODUCTS, Ltd. March 4, 1948, Nos. 6826 and 19932. [Class 78 (iv)] A wagon 12, Fig. 1, supported on rails 11 on the cradle 10 of a rotary tippler is held in position by a stop 14 engaging the flange of the front wheel 21 of the wagon and by a stop 13 adapted to engage the flange 17 of the rear wheel 18. The stop 14 is pivoted at 22 to the fixed structure of the tippler and is normally supported by toggle links 23, 24 pivoted at 25 to the fixed structure. Upon movement of the cradle 10 to tip the wagon a member 34 on the cage bears against a lever 32 pivoted at 33 to the fixed structure so that the lever 32 moves to collapse the toggle 23, 24 withdrawing the stop 14. Thus when the cradle returns to the position shown the wagon runs out of the cradle and in so doing operates a lever 29, 30 to return the stop 14. The lever 29, 30 is loose upon the same shaft 28 as a lever 27 connected by a link 26 to the toggle 23, 24, and the arm 29 carries a lug 31 adapted to engage the lever 27. When the toggle 23, 24 is collapsed the arm 30 of lever 29, 30 rests against a stop with the arm 29 projecting above the track for operation by the front wheel of the wagon. When the front wheel of the wagon has pushed the arm 29 over, its lug 31 rests against the lever 27 with the arm 30 in position for operation by the rear wheel of the truck which depresses the arm 30 so that the lever 27 is turned to restore the toggle 23, 24 movement of which is limited by a stop 48. Means not shown then return the lever 29, 30 to its initial position. The stop 13 is pivoted at 15 to the fixed structure and carries a counterweight 16 so that it normally projects above the track but may be depressed by a wagon passing into the tippler. A spring device 20 limits the upward movement of the stop 13. In Fig. 4 is shown an alternative means for operating the stop 14. The stop is pivoted at 37 to the fixed structure and is connected by a lost motion device to an arm 43 so that as the tippler moves to tip the wagon a bar 44 on the cradle 10 pushes the arm 43 freely aside, but on return movement of the cradle the bar 44 depresses the arm 43 to move the stop 14 to the release position shown at 45. As the wagon passes from the tippler its front wheel engages an arm 41 on a lever 38 stiffly pivoted at 39 so that a link 40 pivoted to the lever 38 and to the stop 14 moves the latter to the position shown at 47. The rear wheel then engages a second arm 42 on the lever 38 to restore the stop 14 to the position shown in unbroken lines. Stops 14, 13 may be provided for the wheels on both sides of the wagon, and the distance between these stops is greater than the greatest wheel base to be accommodated. The stop 14 is reset by a wagon leaving the tippler before the front wheels of a wagon in contact with the first wagon have reached the stop. Specification 370,734 is referred to.
