Abstract
591,576. Selective conveyers. SOVEX, Ltd., CADMAN, H. W., ROOKE, S: W., and PELLY, N. H. May 14, 1945, Nos. 12038/45 and 5777/46. [Class 78(i)] In a chain conveyer of the type wherein trays carried by the chain are fitted with triggers which control discharge from the tray, the trays are mounted above or upon the chain. Tray 4, Figs. 1 and 2, pivoted at 5 to bracket 6 resting upon slipper 2 of chain 1, is held in position by spring-loaded pawl 7. Parcel is placed on tray for delivery to point 15 (say) and key 15 on front edge of tray is depressed, so setting trigger 13. At discharge point 15 are three trip levers, 16, 17, 21 coupled as shown. Neb 12 initiates movement by striking lever 16 which swings up lever 21 so disposed that it contacts trigger 13, and the double movement is sufficient to cause lever 17 to oscillate and strike pawl 1 and release tray. Latter then pivots so that roller 10 runs along ramp 11 till finally tray tips again and discharges parcel. Parcel discharges into chute 28, Fig. 2, and lip 14 of key 15 strikes spring-cushioned lip 29 of chute and key moves back into normal unset position. The levers return under action of springs to the ready position. In the second form of Figs. 4 and 5, spring 39 biasses the tray pivoted at 5 against the adjustable stop 41 and rod 33 against upper edge of slot 38. At delivery point are the trips 16, 17, 21, mounted upon rod 41 and, as the preset tray moves past, neb 12 engages lever 16 to partwise throw over lever system so that depressed trigger 131 strikes lever 21 which is knuckle-jointed at 42 to prevent damage if jammed, thus completing movement of lever 17 which jerks up tail 40 of rod 33. Latter rod pivots at 34 and depresses roller 35 to engage ramp 361 whilst at the same time urging the tray by means of spring 39 over clockwise ready to tip. Finally, depression of roller 35 under the influence of the ramp causes tipping. To set discharge point out of action rod 41, Fig. 5, may be moved to the right by finger 44 actuated by toggle-action spring 45, so that the three trip-levers are held down against contact with the moving tray. The tray may be mounted on plate 51, Fig. 7, upon brackets 52 secured to a " universal "- jointed biplanar-link chain which pivots horizontally about bolt 48 and vertically about bolt 49 due to small link elements 50. Chain runs on rollers 53, which work in flanges 56, Fig. 4. At any delivery station a warning light may be actuated by the full travel of the lever arms or a previous station may give a light warning of the discharge at a subsequent station. Specification 460,920 is referred to.
